Objective: Helping to end poverty.
As a former management consultant I used to help company owners make more money but I decided I wanted to help poor people make money. That’s what led me to Cuso International. I now volunteer as an Organizational Development Advisor for Gawad Kalinga (GK) Enchanted Farm, a social ecosystem composed of a community of fifty former homeless families now on their way out of poverty.
I am a strong believer and advocate of social entrepreneurship, and of education towards it, as key drivers to overcome poverty. At the GK Enchanted Farm I have come to understand some key concepts around poverty and social entrepreneurship better. I have discovered the power of being present with the poor and really connecting with them, with love, as equal human beings, to better understand their reality and their needs.
The most special part of my work is to mentor students in the Social Entrepreneurship Experiential Development Program. I also help put in place better processes, structure and systems, working to improve people’s skills to optimize the triple bottom line of social entrepreneurship – improving profits, people and the planet.
