When you choose to volunteer in Bogotá, you will benefit from an incredible Colombian cultural experience. During your placement you can:
Commute by bicycle. Bogotá is one of the world’s most bike-friendly cities with extensive networks of bike lanes and trails. Outgoing volunteers have been known to sell or trade their bikes to volunteers just arriving.
Take in the view from the Andes Mountains. On the weekends, you can take a gondola or funicular to the top of Mt. Monserrate where you’ll be treated to a panoramic view of your home city of Bogotá. There’s even a shrine and restaurants at the top!
Enjoy working with some of the friendliest people in the world. Colombians are warm, helpful and always quick to offer a smile.
Try tinto. On your way to work, be sure to try a cup of local tinto (delicious, sweet black coffee), sold from the many mobile street vendors.
Appreciate Colombian street art. Colombia has embraced graffiti as an artistic expression; the streets around the Cuso International office in Bogotá are filled with creative masterpieces.
